On-site and remote calibration

Picture, sound, and the room — calibrated as one system.

Calibration is the last mile — the point where a designed room gets verified against real measurement, or where an existing system gets brought up to what it's actually capable of. caanoli measures the display, the speakers, and the room they live in, then tunes to how the space actually gets used — cinema, music, sports, gaming — and verifies the result with data, not a factory preset.

On-site calibration is available throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia — the DMV region — including Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, Stafford, Montgomery, Baltimore, and Howard counties, plus Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, McLean, Great Falls, Potomac, Bethesda, Reston, Vienna, and Herndon. For projects outside this area, caanoli technicians may be able to travel on a case-by-case basis — reach out to check.

What's included

Video, audio, and the room itself

Video calibration

Display color, grayscale, gamma, and HDR behavior brought to reference standard (ISF Level III), so the picture matches what the source was mastered for.

Audio calibration

Speaker and subwoofer levels, crossovers, timing, and in-room response measured and corrected in your space, not left on a factory curve (THX Level 3).

Acoustic calibration

The room itself measured and treated where treatment is the actual fix. Placement and treatment come before EQ — EQ finishes the job, it doesn't cover for a bad room (HAA HT3).

Projector calibration

Same standard, adapted for projected image and screen material — throw distance, screen gain, and ambient light all factored in.

Remote calibration

Expert review, not automation.

Not every project needs an on-site visit. For rooms outside the service area, caanoli offers a remote path: you or your installer capture REW measurements on-site, and those measurements get an expert review — read and interpreted by a certified technician, not graded by an algorithm. Recommendations come back the same way an on-site calibration would produce them, just without the technician physically in the room.

What calibration changes

Measured, not just claimed

Every calibration is checked against the room's predicted model, not treated as a standalone tune-up. Where a system underperforms, the first question is whether it's a placement or treatment problem before it's ever treated as an EQ problem — the same physical-first sequence the platform uses for new design. Pre- and post-calibration color accuracy (ΔE), grayscale tracking, and acoustic measurements are part of the deliverable, not a marketing slide.

Questions

Calibration, plainly explained

How long does a calibration appointment take?

A single discipline on its own — audio alone or video alone — typically runs two to six hours. A full home theater calibration, covering video, audio, and room acoustics together, typically runs half a day to a full day; immersive audio layered with a full video pass — SDR, then HDR10, then Dolby Vision where the display supports it — runs toward the longer end.

Do I need to be in the DC/MD/VA area to work with caanoli?

On-site calibration is available throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia — the DMV region, including Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, Stafford, Montgomery, Baltimore, and Howard counties.

Do I need to leave the room during calibration?

No. Audio measurement sweeps need a quiet room, but you're welcome to stay for the walkthrough and the before/after comparison — quiet is only needed while the sweeps are actually running.

What standards does caanoli calibrate to?

Video calibration follows ISF Level III standards. Audio calibration follows THX Level 3. Room acoustic calibration follows HAA HT3. Targets also follow the room's content profile — a Cinema room and a Music & Hi-Fi room aren't calibrated to the same target, because they're not being asked to do the same job.

Can I get calibration review if I'm outside the service area?

Yes — remote calibration review is available. You or your installer capture REW measurements on-site, and a certified technician reviews and interprets them. On-site travel outside the service area may also be possible by arrangement — reach out to check.

A great system deserves a measured room.

Calibration is environment-specific — once it's set, leave the calibrated picture and sound settings alone. If something in the room changes, schedule a revisit rather than adjusting settings blind.
